Penguin Random House SA | Business-to-Customer Redesign

Penguin Random House
South Africa
Project Introduction
This project involved the responsive redesign of the Penguin Random House (South Africa) website whilst reimagining the company as a Business-to-Customer (BC) entity rather than a Business-to-Business (BB) entity.

Penguin Random House, currently standing with a BB business model, may provide problems to individual consumers who do not wish to purchase books in bulk for their own business' supply chains.
Information Architecture
A new sitemap provides a foundation for the website over multiple platforms; in this case: small, medium and large devices. The BB functionality remains even with the BC overhaul to the current content.

Grid System
Penguin Book covers were once strictly designed according to the 'Marber Grid.' That grid has been reintroduced in the underlying grid system for each viewport scale of the site — margins, columns, and gutters.

Type Specifications
The Marber Grid was developed using the Fibonacci sequence and its spiral. The same steps of the sequence have been used in the typeface hierarchy. Headers may appear large, though the word count in headers has been reduced as compensation.
